Many jobs require ongoing training and research to stay competitive in a world with rapidly evolving information and technology. Some believe that it is the responsibility of businesses to pay for this training for their staff while others feel it is up to the individual. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Mammoth rise in advancements in technology has brought a paradigm shift in the execution of work. Owing to this revolution numerous workplaces need constant training and research based sessions for survival. However, there are two contrasting views where section of society vehemently seems that it is responsibility of employers to train their workers. While others emphasizes that every individual should take initiative for training.

Apparently, various factors make a section of people advocate that employers should allocate their budget towards any sort of education and training. To begin with, not only companies will be benefitted considerably due to skilled workers capable of bringing growth of companies at an unprecedented scale ,but also such investment will give a sense of security to employees. For instance, Most of Canadian banks provide a training in IT skills and new technology so that they can be more efficient in making right decisions and perform excellent jobs. Secondly, unlike the bygone days , in the contemporary era, computer overshadowed the manual techniques and methods in various job sectors which definitely require skilled personnel to perform task at workplace on a fast paced than manual process. Hence, for the upgradation and prosperity of the organisation it is of paramount significance to channelise funds on training sessions.

On the other hand, some believe that each individual should take initiative for personal growth by taking some courses online for myriad reasons. Chiefly, if an employee spend by themselves, he could do training in another field of his interest so as to expand his knowledge resulting in more opportunities to start a new job. To corroborate, BBC has released a survey in which it is depicted that employees were more serious and regular in training sessions when they paid the fees by themselves. Additionally, does it give personal freedom to choose the subject, trainer and institution? Certainly yes, in personally financed education trainee does not need to wait for the approval of the manager or board members.

In my profound opinion, although employees should introduce themselves to new skills on their own pockets yet it is also important for employers to make possible to provide a free training and education to their employees who are not financially strong.
