Question :

Officials in your city have an empty space and are planning to build a zoo for

recreational purposes. Some residents think that the place might be used for something

more complex like a shopping mall or a movie theater.

Write about 150-200 words defending one of the two options provided below. You

should say why you support the topic and how it would help the residents around you.

What problems are there with the other choice?

Option A: The town’s municipality should build a zoo.

Option B: The town‘s municipality should build something more complex.

Sample answer

I vehemently reckon the town’s municipality should build shopping mall or a movie theatre as it has paramount significance to the community it belongs to. Although zoo holds constructive ripples in terms of educational resource, conservation for endangered animals, economic resource yet    the multi pronged advantages of multiplex is unsurpassable.

First and foremost, not only leisure needs are manifested in the desire for a shopping experience ,but also watching movies in multiplexes, lounging and eating out. Secondly, if a businessman set up a store in a shopping mall, retail store owners can rent shop space which would be rewarding for both the businessman and the customers on an unprecedented scale

Thirdly, unlike zoological garden which exploits animals, need proper funding to meet the needs of animal population, even experts find themselves in dangerous circumstances with predatory animals, mall management organises promotional activities like events, contests, star visits, premiers and customer loyalty programs. As a result, young crowd witnessed hanging out in malls/ shopping centres as a everyday habit.

Considering these reasons, I strongly believe to have complex building as it will promote an exponential increase in demand and supply to the town which will improve tourism. Again, these are my personal beliefs, but I will support whatever state authorities decide to do.

Survey Question : 26 min

Your city is considering building a new airport near your house. A survey is being conducted in your community to find out if the local residents support or oppose the project. If the project is approved, taxes would increase by 20% to pay for the project. The city’s mayor estimates that the project will create 5000 new jobs in the area.

Which option do you prefer? Explain your choice.

Option A: Build the airport

Option B: Do not build the airport

SAMPLE ANSWER

I vehemently reckon that airports should be located away from residential areas in order to mitigate the extent of noise pollution. Even though the residents would reap the benefits in terms of employment opportunities, the hike in taxes would invite potential problems for a certain strata of society which cannot be ignored.

First and foremost, not only proximity to an airport is a death knell for those with respiratory conditions, but also zoning regulation are implemented near some airports to reserve the area around for commercial, industrial and retail use only which can limit the construction of child care centres and schools.

Secondly, unlike other residential sites, areas with airport has noise levels of 65 decibels which seems to be a more determining factor. Other fundamental catastrophic effects that aviation has over property value are safety, traffic and scenery.

Considering these reasons, I personally think it would be better to not build airport near house as consistently breathing in the ozone produced by the aircraft can adversely impact respiratory tissue causing emphysema and chronic bronchitis in the long run.

Thank you for giving me a chance to voice my opinion.

Nowadays it is not only large companies that can make films. Digital technology enables anyone to produce films. Do you think it is a positive or negative development? IELTS | IELTS WRITING TASK-2

Nowadays it is not only large companies that can make films. Digital technology enables anyone to produce films. Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

It is undeniable fact that the world has witnessed revolutionary inventions in terms of science and technology with distinct modes of watching films being most prominent. It is often argued that in modern era, owing to unexpected progress in science and technology any individual can produce films irrespective of bygone era when cinematography was exclusive to large companies. However, it is constructive as well as destructive trend.

Apparently, anyone capable of making films holds wide range of constructive benefits. Firstly,  not only it provides employment as people need a team to produce films so many freelancers get jobs ,but also it can create a competitive market where filmmakers have to increase their film quality on an unprecedented scale. Secondly, unlike the bygone days, in the modern era, some makers often make documentary films about daily topics which fascinate a large number of young fans which leads to the film retail become busier. Thus, they develop their innovation in every product to meet the entertainment need of viewers. For example, according to BBC research it is revealed that films made by potential filmmakers, albeit amateur, transcend barriers of ethnicities and backgrounds.

Nevertheless, it entails myriad detrimental effects. Chiefly, if anyone is allowed to make films, there can be some products with the low quality as some individuals focus on the exponential benefits despite art. Thus, they are ready to make sexual or violent films to find fame and fortune. For instance, according to Forbes magazine it is revealed that paradigm shift has been witnessed in the behaviour of younglings after watching criminal based shows on Netflix. Furthermore, to cut costs, movies are made with bad acting, clumsily dialogue and poor overall production values even many films do not ensure safety of actors.

To recapitulate, although easy to access filming technology adds spice to the film industry and promotes aspiring individuals wishing to pursue professional film careers yet it’s darker side can not be ignored.

Nowadays more and more people decide to have children late in life. What are the reasons for this development? Do the advantages outweigh its disadvantages? IELTS | IELTS WRITING TASK-2

Nowadays more and more people decide to have children late in life. What are the reasons for this development? Do the advantages outweigh its disadvantages?

SAMPLE ANSWER : Indubitably, over the decade there is a paradigm shift in the trend  of having a family . In this contemporary era, male and female waiting for long period of time  for having baby.  Apparently,  modernization and advanced life style are to be blamed for this universal phenomenon.  However, even though this practice brings about a mixed bag of both boon and bane, demerits outshine merits.

Fundamentally, the predominant factors that evidently trigger it can be observed. To begin with,  the inevitable contributing factor for enhancing this issue is that nowadays  women focus on making a career instead of being mother also women have carved a niche for themselves in every field and primarily they are interested  in job and wants to earn money or conspicuously want to secure their future with investment of their money.  So as a consequence, they postpone of having baby and family. Yet another, the paramount significant reason is that in metropolitan cities , numerous of youngsters complain for the high cost of living and it makes them scared of having baby since they have less money to raise a child.  For instance , BBC published a survey in which it was mentioned that 57% young generation waiting for having child because they believed that in this ultra modern epoch, providing good education in private schools and cost of extracurricular activities of striplings and fulfill their incessantly demands is not an easy task for an ordinary person. Incontestably, they are working hard for their financial stability

Nevertheless, I find cons tide over the pros. Delaying of child birth can breed nothing but discordance.  Chiefly , outrageously gaining of this tendency bring detrimental effect on women’s life because in old age its very difficult for a women to get pregnant and they may experience more health troubles, such as a miscarriage, high blood pressure or diabetes during pregnancy. Needless to say , people who are parents in late time confront generation gap with the kids. To corroborate, parents do not understand the wishes and concern of their younglings owing to quickly changes in society. Also, the other inherited drawback of this vogue is that the baby may have higher risk of having genetic disorder.

Suffice to say , young  generation consistently focusing on their career and they want to provide every amenities to their family by money but we cannot neglect that it has catastrophic effects on society .

Some people believe that after hundred years life will be easier for most of people, while the others are unsure. What is your opinion?

The world has witnessed revolutionary inventions in terms of science and technology with healthcare equipments and education apps being most prominent. However, there are two contrasting views where a section of society deems that after a hundred year life will be smooth and stable with the help of emerging of technology and modern culture While others emphasize that it is doubtful. Nevertheless, in my contention, life will be easier and well ordered.

Apparently, technology and modern culture holds a paramount significant role in paving way for more comfortable life for upcoming years and have a plethora of reasons to substantiate it. First and foremost, not only it will create numerous jobs to stimulate people live joyfully and independently, but also it will bring creativity and intelligence as we discover various aspects in terms of technology advancement and automation. To vindicate, according to the BBC report, it is revealed that after few decades’ multifarious companies will build automatic robots, which will help people to do their personal and household errands at an unprecedented scale. Hence, people can reap the benefits of spending more time with family and friends. Furthermore, unlike traditional behavior and culture, modern culture will allow to live cheerfully and peacefully in society. One of the major and substantial ways of modern culture is the invention of new products and ideas which can bring paradigm shift in the execution of work.

Thirdly, after hundred year education and healthcare sectors will substantially grow. To corroborate, children do not need to commute schools daily, they will be able to attend classes online and derive benefits of less travelling. Moreover, do people can be benefited considerably with modern healthcare? Certainly yes, there will be gene scanning for potential health issues and gene therapy to eliminate the illness or disease. Thus, people will be able to treat their illness effortlessly and painlessly.

To recapitulate, having mulled over above stated information and facts, although people’s opinions towards future aspects may vary yet technology advancement in terms of healthcare and education, and  modern culture can make people’s life trouble-free, effortless, and straightforward.

Men are placed in most high-level jobs. Some people say that the government should encourage a certain percentage of these jobs to be reserved for women. Do you agree or disagree?

Format - blue colour

Collocations - pink

Conditions - red

It is undeniable fact that numerous companies are hiring male employees as compared to females. It is often argued that the successive government should keep some percentage of jobs reserved for women since they play a key influencing factor role in the high-level jobs. However, I firmly agree with the given notion.

Apparently, a woman holds a paramount significant role in any company. They prove to be contributing factor in order to make the company successful and have plethora of reasons to substantiate it. To begin with, not only women have substantial intellectual abilities in order to make companies cash-rich, but also they are always ahead in a multifarious presentation to present the company at an unprecedented scale. To vindicate, according to the BBC report, it is revealed that 70% of the companies are in whopping profits just because they hired immense numbers of female employees. Women have extraordinary power in terms of maintaining a work-life balance. Consequently, they do more concentrate on their work and hence, companies can reap the benefits of high revenue growth. Furthermore, unlike the men, despite household responsibilities, they never avert their office work and always reach on time at the office. As a result, everyone does encourage and do their work with full of zeal and potential.

Thirdly, men sometimes divert their minds from work as a result it has a catastrophic effect on productivity of the workplace. Additionally, if companies hire only men in their company, it will create a dismal consequence. To corroborate, women would not be able to come forward and be a part of this career journey. As consequence, they could not manifest their determination and perseverance.

To recapitulate, although companies have witnessed enormous profits and revenue growth with the help of men yet women's role to make companies healthy, wealthy and cash-rich cannot be ignored. Thus, the legislation has to reserve seats for women with the aim of giving them high-level jobs.

Some parents think that children should be the best at everything they do, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion. IELTS | IELTS WRITING TASK-2

Some parents think that children should be the best at everything they do, while others disagree. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

A child is like an empty bucket and their character is like a molten clay, one can mould these incarnations of God as they want to. However, there are two contrasting views where a section of society deems that children should be encouraged to give their best efforts, no matter what activity they are doing or not remain debatable because of its multiple benefits while other contradicts.

Apparently, some believe that it would play paramount significant role in the life of younger ones to have strong determination for everything for myriad reasons. Chiefly, not only a sense of responsibility is being fostered from tender age ,but also they will approach great heights of the life to get the objective finished. Secondly, unlike quitting, they will be able to come up with various strategies to tackle problems arising along the way. For example, According to Forbes magazine youngling develop a pattern of behaviour that help them become more flexible and creative in problem solving at an unprecedented scale.

On the other hand, various factors makes a section of society advocate that children do not need to make determined attempts at what they are following and have many reasons to justify it. First and foremost, it concerns their mental development if parents constantly require them to expand tremendous efforts, they can likely to suffer from stress. For example, In a BBC research it is revealed that most of the parents across the globe encourage their children to always try their best in studies in order to compete with peers which is the prime reason of children getting depressed. Furthermore, being constantly reminded of taking a superficial approach towards everything would create a psychological spectre that they are not trying enough and are inferior to others. Hence, this can shatter a child’s confidence.

In my profound opinion, although parents are the true heroes of children yet it seems to me that children are more likely to attain success if they exert themselves to the limit.

Scientists recommend making it mandatory for children to learn how to play a musical instrument. To what extent do you agree or disagree? IELTS | IELTS WRITING TASK-2

Scientists recommend making it mandatory for children to learn how to play a musical instrument. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

It is an undeniable fact that music is a piece of art that makes every moment joyful and has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade. It is often argued that experts recommend making it compulsory for younger ones  to learn how to play a musical instrument. However, I partially agree to this notion.

Apparently, learning musical instruments holds a wide range of constructive benefits. First and foremost, music is known to be the best stress reliever not only while working listening to music fosters our creativity, but also it is helpful for making someone more socialised and provokes smartness. For example, In a BBC research it is revealed that listening to music improves our learning ability and memory by stimulating different patterns of brain development. Secondly, unlike other activities, learning musical instruments is like a never ending path the more you practise ,the more you become master in the art and anyone can specialise in this depending on their dedication towards it and their personal interest. Hence, every instrument plays a special aspect of it in every song and every tone.

On the other hand, we cannot pressure someone to learn until unless they have their personal interest in that particular art or field. Chiefly, making a task or subject mandatory is not a good decision for students in which they have no personal interest not only it will enforce them to be under pressure ,but also they would not give their full potential towards learning it and could end up wasting their time. Also, it is like a hobby learning music and musical instruments for most the students. Not everyone could afford the musical instruments as they are pretty expensive. For example, In Forbes magazine there was a topic which described that most of the schools make subjects mandatory for students in which they do not have interest and at last end up having catastrophic ramifications on their grades.

To recapitulate, although making musical instruments mandatory to learn is a better way because there are lot of students who do not know that they can learn it and master it easily yet I firmly believe, its a personal choice there should be any pressure.

In many parts of the world people look up their family history. Some people think that researching previous generations is a good idea, but others think it is better to focus on the present and future generations. Discuss both views and give your opinion. IELTS | IELTS WRITING TASK-2

In many parts of the world people look up their family history. Some people think that researching previous generations is a good idea, but others think it is better to focus on the present and future generations. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

The inquisitiveness to know about the yesteryears is on the cusp of search today. However, there are two contrasting views where a section of society deems that it is a good notion to verify the blood relations while other emphasise  that it would be good if the present and the future scopes of the person are taken under consideration.

Apparently, various factors make a section of people advocate to conduct a background check of an individual and have many reasons to substantiate it. First and foremost, not only past is an account of both splendid and vicious actions of human beings. So, narrowing down into one’s past family history presents a person with an analytical ability between vice and virtue, but also act as a curative measure for how to avoid the past follies. Secondly, unlike the past, today’s  family  is more ultra-nuclear and hence, more fragmented. Hence, the pedigree seems to be of less importance. Here comes the utmost importance of researching into family history that could fix the broken relationship.  For example, according to BBC research it is revealed that such studies can enhance the need of strengthening relationship. Thus, decoding the past lineage fills up a man with positive human attributes like sympathy, empathy and fellow feeling.

On the other hand, some believe on stressing present and future even though history can bring up some moral and ethical lessons, the quantum of its impact on the current and future generation would be too little to be utilised for myriad reasons. Chiefly, inhabitants should love to live with whatever they have and make the future more greener for their kin. What needs today is not a parameter of the past but a right approach of present that builds up future with stability and tranquility. Furthermore, the society cannot be too slow by looking into the past but it is the journey ahead filled up with optimism, daring thoughts and quest for further growth that lis up the overall development of a person and his society.

In my profound opinion, although knowing about the previous generations of the family is the way of keeping on the traditional values, and mental values For example, handmade lantern from China is an extraordinary  work of art, and the secret of making the lantern  is descended by generations up to now yet the paramount significance of living in present and future can not be ignored.

Some people think that public health within a country can be improved by government making laws regarding nutritious food. Others, however, think that health is a matter of personal choice and responsibility. Discuss both views and give your opinion. IELTS | IELTS WRITING TASK-2

Some people think that public health within a country can be improved by government making laws regarding nutritious food. Others, however, think that health is a matter of personal choice and responsibility. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

The world has witnessed paradigm shift in eating habits of people resulting in prolifically inactive lifestyle.  However, there are two contrasting views where a section of society deems that successive governments should regulate nutrition to improve public wellness, while other emphasises that it should be people’s fundamental decision whether to pursue a healthy diet or not.

Apparently, various factors make a section of people advocate that Legislators could impose laws concerning nutritious food in an effort to have a healthier population and have many reasons to substantiate it. First and foremost, not only the rulers could impose a levy on unhealthy food options ,but also reduce their availability on the grocery stores shelves. For example, according to BBC research it is revealed that in Italy, products such as carbonated sugary drinks and chips are heavily taxed. As a result, the sales of these items had decreased at an unprecedented scale. Secondly, educating the public about a healthy diet, which would help people make better-informed decisions about the food they consume.

On the other hand, some believe that populace should be responsible for their choices regarding the food and drinks they decide to intake for myriad reasons. Chiefly, limiting snacks option, even if it is done with the best outcome in mind, could consequently create dissatisfaction among the population, which would possibly lead to other public issues such as protests and demonstrations. For instance, according to Forbes magazine it is revealed that restricting personal freedom could exponentially result in social unrest and for that reason diet decisions are better to be left up to well-informed individuals. Furthermore, In spite of being dependent on others for a good health, millennial must take care of themselves to lead a fit and healthy life.

In my profound opinion, even though food  and exercise freedom is a human right, and no one is allowed to control the food options or the physical activities of people yet governments are capable of limiting unhealthy diets and promoting training among inhabitants.

Some people believe that excessive use of modern technologies, such as computers and smartphones, is negatively affecting the reading and writing skills of our young people. Give your opinion?

It is undeniable fact that science and technology has grown by leaps and bounds over a past decade with computers and smartphones being most prominent. It is often argued that over usage of these gadgets have an adverse effect on language skills of adolescents. However, in my contention, it is a mixed bag of boon and bane.

Apparently, relying on equipments hold wide range of constructive benefits as regards to writing and reading skills. Firstly, unlike the bygone days, in the modern era, there are numerous applications to develop vocabularies such as dictionary app, dictionary builder and words builder. Secondly, e-book is a common facility in mobile phones which you can use to read books wherever you want. For instance, a survey done by London University found out that, people between ages 12 to 25 have developed their language skills by using modern technology.

Nevertheless, it entails myriad detrimental ramifications. Chiefly, not only do they get less practice in writing ,but also fewer opportunities to train in spelling words, since the ‘autocorrect’ and ‘autocomplete’ features use the first few letters to guess the entire word, therefore making it unnecessary for the child to remember and type it correctly. For instance, according to Forbes magazine it is revealed that the jargon that is often used in text messages, where words are shortened or distorted. Exposure to ‘texting’ tends to replace the correct words with abbreviations in young minds, causing their spelling accuracy to decline. Furthermore, easy and instant access to videos and movies pushes books further down the list of preferences of young audience, and it takes a significant commitment from parents and teachers to ensure that children continue to read books.

To recapitulate, although the world is reaping benefits from advanced technology yet it’s darker side can not be ignored.
