These days more fathers stay at home and take care of their children while mothers go out to work. What could be the reasons for this? Do you think it is a positive or a negative development? IELTS WRITING TASK-2

These days more fathers stay at home and take care of their children while mothers go out to work. What could be the reasons for this? Do you think it is a positive or a negative development?

Indubitably, being a caregiver is of paramount significance to ensure wellbeing and overall development of younglings. It is quite evident that nowadays while women are working and pursuing their career, men have stood up to be stay at home dads. Apparently, various factors breed this popularity. However, it is a constructive trend.

Fundamentally, the predominant factors that evidently trigger it can be observed. To begin with, not only society is gradually moving away from being patriarchal, but also women are being empowered at an unprecedented scale. To substantiate, as per the survey by National Post, nearly 83% of the mothers are in the workforce. Secondly, unlike traditional times when most of the women were the homemakers and predominant caregivers of their children, in the modern times it is a pragmatic decision to reverse roles if husbands have lower earning potential and their wives are earning more to diminish the financial burden.

Nevertheless, I find the trend positive for multifarious reasons. Chiefly, if fathers share parenting responsibilities, there will be a significant rise in work-life balance in such families. To corroborate, as per BBC report, 91% children are more academically and emotionally nurtured in the houses that share responsibilities equally. Furthermore, does it promote gender equality? Certainly, yes. Since, both men and women challenge the stereotypical norms of the society. There is a paradigm shift towards the gender-neutral roles.

Suffix to say, the trend of fathers being stay at home dads is changing the dynamics in the society and is offering opportunities for parental involvement. Henceforth, in my opinion, it is a promising development which should be continued in our ever-evolving world.
