In many countries, women are allowed to take maternity leave during the first month after the birth of the new born. Do you think the advantages of maternity leave outweigh the disadvantages?

Indubitably, mother as female parent is a centre of creation of new life, who plays a predominant role in nurturing and protecting of the new life unconditionally. It is believed that first month of new born is very crucial and mother should be with the baby and for healing process after intensive labor and many countries allowed women to take maternity leave for first month. However, in my opinion advantages massively outshine the disadvantages.



Fundamentally, there are myriad constructive benefits for this trend. Firstly, it creates the avenue for mother’s to nurture and take care of neonatal. Seemingly, mother hardly have time to breast feed new born at work so, maternity leave gives them the opportunity to do that. For instance, most bank does not allow mother’s to come to work with their babies. This can lead to malnutrition of neonatal because while the mother is at work no one can breast feed  baby. Secondly, such leave create time for mothers to rest. To vindicate, gestation period is stressful and demanding. Henceforth, such leave is necessary and highly beneficial. Subsequently, a recent studies by US has shown that women was given at least three months maternity leave returns back healthy and more productive at work. Overall, leave of absence from work for mother’s is highly important and should be encouraged.

On the other hand, there are disadvantages of being on maternity leave for long time period. Chiefly, if the mothers engage in long leave , it will have detrimental effects, major drawback includes, financial constraints in cases of unpaid leave. To expatiate, unpaid salary for months will definitely deplete the resources left and could lead to several financial crisis. T o illustrates, single mothers need money for daily up keeps and to feed and clothes their babies. Consequently, this could be difficult when salaries are not Paid for months .Furthermore, long leave are obstacle for career progression, to exemplify, most firms requires workers to work for a certain number of years to get promoted and once this is done better remuneration follows. Therefore, long maternity leave delays promotion. By and large, long maternity have major drawbacks as mentioned.

 

Suffice to say that albeit, a lot of nations have embraced maternity leave as positive development owing to, it creates time for mothers to take care of their babies and time for them to rest. Nevertheless, maternity leave have a dismal consequence such as financial constraints for long unpaid leave and obstacle for career progression, but the new life has paramount significance in mother’s life, as a new life.
