In some countries the number of people using bicycle as main transport mode is decreasing, even though it is so beneficial. Why is this so? How can people be encouraged to use more bicycles?
Indubitably, in the contemporary era, the trend of sedentary lifestyle has grown by leaps and bounds across the globe. It is believed that despite the fact that bicycles offer potential benefits, its utilization as a transportation facility is demolishing. Apparently, westernization and modernization are to be blamed for this universal phenomenon. However, its usage can be cleverly uplifted provided a slew of remedial measures are taken up.
Fundamentally, the predominant factors that evidently trigger it can be observed. To begin with, other commutes are not only time efficient, but also safer in comparison to bicycles. For instance, buses and cars is a host of ostensible factor to reach workplace faster and perform your duties energetically. Secondly, unlike bicycles, other transportation modes can aid to utilize time to perform multiple tasks along with commutation. Therefore, the constructive benefits provided by other transportation modes overrides the usage of bicycles.
Nevertheless, prudence will prevail if concerted efforts by government and citizens are taken up in utilizing bicycles as a main transit. Chiefly, if authorities impose excessive inflation on petrol and diesel rates, it will stimulate the consumption of bicycles at an unprecedented scale. To vindicate, an exponential rise in fossil fuels in December 2020 in India has shown a paradigm shift towards the utilization of bicycles by the citizens. Besides, will the installation of government provided bicycles and separate tracks on road considering individual safety will cultivate this positive thought? Certainly yes, this trend has shown tremendous accomplishment in few nations. Hence, awareness and instigation can have substantial contribution in this convention.
To recapitulate, although in the fast-paced life the consumption of other commutes cannot be eradicated, if the coercive steps are taken by government authorities it will seemingly mitigate this practice.
Vry nice ma'am
