Most of our information comes from the internet nowadays. Some people say that a large part of the information we get in incorrect. Do you agree or disagree? Give your opinion.

It is an undeniable fact that science and technology  has grown by leaps and bounds over a past decade with accessing information from internet being most prominent. It is often argued that major information available on the internet is misleading and incorrect. However, I partially agree to the given notion.

Apparently, internet holds a wide range of constructive benefits. First and foremost is, as internet is so huge people can not only easily verify if the information is wrong or correct, but also there are new features like comments, likes and dislikes with the help of which people can help others to warn them if the information is incorrect. For example, Google automatically removes article which are disliked or reported as false by many people time to time. Secondly, unlike the bygone days, in the modern era, most of the information is true because if a publisher or writer posts incorrect information people will stop believing the writer and eventually stop reading their articles. Hence, to remain at top in the stiff competitive internet space most of them publish correct information.

On the other hand, sometimes internet can be flooded with incorrect news for myriad reasons. Chiefly, people who are not aware on how to properly use the internet can get trapped into scams and can become a target for incorrect information. For instance, according to BBC research majority of the old people who do not know how to use the internet properly get lured to ponzi schemes and wrong information. Furthermore, as there is competition on the internet also, some people without verifying the information post the information as exclusive news or breaking news to gain traffic on their page which misleads common people.

To recapitulate,  people when using the internet should be vigilant and cross check the information before believing in it. It is also the responsibility of the publisher to fact check the information before publishing it.
