You recently moved to a new neighborhood and are experiencing issues with the garbage collection service. Write an email to the local city council to address your concerns.

📌 Write an email to the local city council in about 150-200 words to address your concerns.

•Describe the problem you are facing with the garbage collection service.

•Explain how this problem is affecting you and your neighbors.

•Suggest a possible solution to improve the garbage collection service.

Dear City Council,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the recent inefficiencies in the garbage collection services within the Westwood neighborhood.

For almost a month now, the service provider has changed the garbage collection timings without any prior notice. Previously, the team would come every Saturday at 6 a.m.; however, they now complete their job by 4 a.m.

Although everyone in the community has tried to cooperate, it is difficult for residents to wake up at 4 a.m. just to dispose of their garbage after a hectic week. I clearly remember last Saturday when I was unwell and couldn't wake up at that time. As a result, I had to store my garbage in the garage for another week.

Perhaps it would be beneficial if the garbage collection agency could slightly adjust their schedule and revert to 6 a.m. instead of 4 a.m. This change would not only accommodate residents' needs but also ensure a smoother and more convenient waste disposal process.

I hope you understand our situation and consider my request.

Regards,

Rajat Sharma

•Propose specific changes to the opening hours that would address the issue.

Dear Library Manager,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my concern regarding the current opening hours of our local library, which may cause inconvenience for working parents.

For almost a month now, the management has changed the library's opening hours, and it now operates from Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The new schedule is suitable for students; however, it is not ideal for working parents.

Many parents, including myself, find it difficult to visit the library during these hours because they work full-time and also have to manage their families. For instance, my shift starts at 9 a.m., and I sometimes work until 7 p.m. It is difficult for me to study at home due to the distractions caused by children. The library is the only place where I can dedicate some time to my studies without any disturbances.

Perhaps it would be beneficial if the library management could slightly adjust the schedule and extend the opening hours until 9 p.m. This change would help parents focus on extra learning opportunities through the library.

I hope you understand the situation and consider my request.

Best regards,

Nisha Garg

Your friend, Alex, recently moved to a new city and is feeling a bit lonely. Alex has reached out to you for some advice on how to make new friends and adjust to the new environment.

Write an email to Alex. In your email:

•Acknowledge Alex’s feelings and show support.

•Give some suggestions on how to meet new people and make friends.

•Share a personal experience or story related to adjusting to a new place.

Dear Alex,

I hope you're doing well! I’m so happy to hear that you've recently moved to Toronto for your higher studies. I understand that adjusting to a new environment can be challenging, and feeling lonely at times is completely natural—but don’t worry, things will get better with time.

Toronto is a multicultural city, but making new friends can still be difficult. However, I’ve some advice that might help. It would be great if you take the initiative to connect with people at your college or workplace since those are the places where you spend most of your time. Hosting a small get-together or party could be a great way to bond with new friends. Also, since I know you’re a religious person, visiting a temple might help you meet like-minded people.

When I moved to London in 2022, I had a similar experience. Luckily, my roommate was a great guy who helped me explore the city, which made my transition much easier. I hope you meet a good friend soon who will make your journey in Toronto even more enjoyable.

Give my regards to your parents.

Love,
Nisha

Question: Your manager asked you to work at the reception desk while the receptionist is getting lunch. This involves answering telephones and helping clients who come in. However, you are unable to help out because you have other work.

Write an email to your manager in about 150–200 words.

Your email should do the following things:

Apologize.

Explain why you don’t have time to help out.

Suggest a way to solve the problem.

Dear Mrs. Vanna,

I am writing to apologize for not being able to complete the task you assigned me today of working at the reception desk while Linda (the Receptionist) is on her lunch break.

Although I really enjoy tasks that fall under a receptionist's role, as I love to help clients and answer their queries, this time I feel more engaged in a different task, which I must finish as soon as possible.

Since I am the only one available from the sales department today, and I have to submit a presentation this evening based solely on last week's sales data, I would like to stay focused on my current task to complete it within the given time frame.

Perhaps it would be useful if someone from the HR department could handle this situation better. There are a couple of people I feel are more suitable for this role. You may wish to ask Shivani (HR Manager), who might be able to assist you with assigning it.

I hope you understand my situation and consider my request.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Nisha Garg

Your town is voting on a new policy to improve neighborhood safety. Residents must choose between:

Choose the option you support. Justify your choice with reasons such as privacy concerns, cost-effectiveness, or crime prevention. Write 150–200 words.

Option A : Install security cameras in public areas (parks, parking lots).

Option B : Hire more community patrol officers to monitor streets.

Answer-  words- 162

Personally, I believe town authorities should hire patrol officers to monitor streets. Even though installing cameras in public places is more cost-effective, I deem hiring security guards necessary for a myriad of reasons.

Firstly, a physically present person can prevent crimes more effectively. They can not only stop crime from happening but also create an impression of safety and security. For example, if a thief is stealing a bicycle, cameras can only help to recognize him; however, a security officer can stop him as well.

Moreover, cameras have limitations because they can only work if a proper flow of energy charges them continuously. Although hiring security staff may increase the town authorities' budget, the benefits in comparison are more valuable.

Considering these reasons, hiring patrol officers can help us in numerous ways; again, this is my personal opinion; I will support whatever decision is made.

I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this survey.

Firstly, one major reason is that digital workshops help seniors adapt to modern technology. This is important because many older adults find it difficult to operate smartphones and laptops.  Question-

Shopping Center Development Proposal Your town is planning to build a new shopping center, but local officials are unsure what type of shopping experience would best serve the community. They have proposed two options and are seeking input from residents. Choose the option that you prefer. Why do you prefer your choice? Explain the reasons for your choice. Write about 150-200 words.

Option A : Large Shopping Mall : A modern shopping mall with a variety of retail stores, restaurants, and entertainment options such as a movie theatre and arcade.

Option B : Small Local Market : A traditional marketplace that supports local businesses, offering handmade goods, fresh produce, and unique items from local vendors.

I believe the development authority should consider building a small market, despite the current trend favoring large shopping complexes. A small market offers numerous benefits that can positively impact the community.

Firstly, traditional marketplaces play a vital role in supporting small vendors and local businesses. By providing a platform for artisans and small shopkeepers, such markets help preserve cultural heritage and increase the demand for handmade goods. While these products may be slightly more expensive than machine-made alternatives, they offer a unique and authentic experience for consumers.

Moreover, unlike large shopping malls that often prioritize profit over community well-being, small markets emphasize social values and foster a sense of community. This approach not only supports local entrepreneurship but also strengthens social bonds within the neighborhood.

For these reasons, I believe a small local market would be highly beneficial. However, I respect and support the final decision made by the authorities.

Thank you for the opportunity to share my perspective.

You recently went to a cinema where you tried watching a movie, however, you were bothered by a group of teenagers who were very loud in front of you. You complained to the manager but it was not paid attention to.

Write an email to a cinema manager in about 150-200 words. Your email should include the following things:

• Describe your situation

• Explained what happened after you complained to the manager

• Suggest solutions to improve

Dear Cinema Manager,

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the disturbance I experienced during my visit to Trinity Common cinema to watch the movie Shakti on Saturday evening.

A group of five youngsters were not only gossiping and laughing loudly but also playing music during the screening, which was highly frustrating and disrupted the experience for everyone present. Despite several attempts by the audience to quiet them down, they refused to cooperate. I eventually contacted the evening shift manager and explained the situation. Although the manager requested them to move to separate seats, they refused to comply, leading to their removal from the hall.

I would like to suggest implementing stricter policies to prevent such incidents in the future. For instance, restricting entry for individuals under the age of 20 and assigning a staff member to monitor behavior at the end of each row could help maintain a peaceful environment. I believe these measures will enhance the cinema experience and attract more visitors.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,
Khushbu Raheja
