Buying things on the Internet, such as books, air tickets and groceries, is becoming more and more popular. Do the advantages of shopping in this way outweigh the disadvantages?
It is an undeniable fact that advancements in technology have made our life significantly easy. It is often argued that online shopping on the internet, such as home necessities, tickets, books, is becoming popular. However, even though this practice brings about is a mixed bag of both boon and bane, merits outshine demerits.
Apparently, online shopping has plenty of constructive benefits. First and foremost, not only online shopping saves a lot of time, but also it is convenient than manual shopping. For example, according to BBC research, it is revealed that 90% of people prefer to shop online because of convenient options. Secondly, e-commerce websites like Amazon provide access to almost every product in the market and they deliver those products within 1-2 days. Thus, people can purchase any product from one common portal. Thirdly, shopping websites offer heavy discounts on their products and usually, their prices are much lower than local shops and showrooms. Therefore, e-commerce companies are dominating malls and markets. On the other hand, shopping online has inherited downsides. Chiefly, in this modern era, people are completely dependent on online shopping and have forgotten to shop at local markets and malls. Thus, retailers and local shop owners have been heavily impacted by online shopping. For instance, according to Forbes Magazine, it is revealed that due to online shopping, 80% of the exporter and distributors have faced significant losses in their shopping business. Hence, online shopping is remarkably affecting the wholesaler’s business.
To conclude, online shopping has completely changed our lifestyle in many ways. However, we should not entirely depend on e-commerce websites and we need to maintain a healthy routine.
