Crimes and other kinds of information on TV and newspapers have bad consequences. This kind of information should be restricted to be shown in media. To what extent do you agree or disagree with the statement.
Indubitably, crime related news on multi media entails catastrophic ramifications. It is often argued that such kind of information should not b freely presented to the public. However, I partially agree to the given notion.
Apparently, there are numerous inherited downsides of publishing brutal news. First and foremost , not only does it disrupt the trust of people on legal system ,but also affects the mental state of a person. To vindicate, according to BBC research 10% of the people suffer from depression and shock after watching these cruel activities. Secondly, unlike the bygone days when people were genuine and used to lead a simple life, these days due to growing needs of an individual, people get inspired by such immature deeds and fall into the trap of committing a crime. Hence , watching such news can compel people to take risk and imitate the criminals.
Nevertheless, it has myriad constructive ripples on the society. Chiefly if the crime news for murder, rape and theft are shown on the television , people also get aware of the punishment that are imposed on the criminals and would realize the penalty. To corroborate, according to BBC research a potential criminal would think twice before committing a crime keeping in mind the strict punishments and sentences later. Moreover, does it keep people updated? Certainly yes, people stay aware of the criminal activities in their surrounding and they stay beware of it. Hence, it becomes mandatory to make the public understand of the happenings around them.
To recapitulate, although the news have worse aftermaths in today’s coverage and affects a person mentally yet media should be transparent and sensitive in giving out information to the public.
