Some countries have introduced the laws to limit working hours for employees. Why are these laws introduced? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

Extended working hours is a burning issue and many nations have implemented rules to limit it. Apparently, limiting over burden of the work, which exploits both personal life and physical health is the primary reason of the introduction of such laws. However, in my opinion, it is a constructive trend.

Fundamentally, various significant factors contribute for the need of such laws. Chiefly, various employers give promotions to the people if they work for more hours as compared to the others. In order to achieve that, masses start working for longer hours, and this eventually leads to detrimental effects on people's personal life. To vindicate, an exponential rise is witnessed in separation rate in families due to lack of personal time for each other. Furthermore, do long work timings not result in various health problems? Certainly yes, since stretched timings,  lack of rest, and improper diet have catastrophic effects on the fitness of a person. Hence, restricting working hours have paramount significance for a person’s personal life.

Nevertheless, these laws hold a wide range of constructive benefits. To begin with, these not only reduce the work pressure at an unprecedented scale ,but also people can reap the benefits of the spare time by enjoying with their families. To corroborate, according to BBC research, a prolific decrease has been revealed in the divorce rate of western countries with the decrease in the work timings. Secondly, unlike other nations' employees, workforce of such countries can focus on their health along with work and could do various physical activities after their office hours. Hence, it proves auxiliary in creating a desired work-life balance for citizens.

In conclusion, although the drop in working timings may have impacted some people's financial conditions, the constructive ripples it brings, in terms of providing sufficient time for their acquaintances as well as for themselves, are unsurpassable. Therefore, indubitably, these laws are useful for the development of a nation and dwellers.
