Drug abuse has become a serious problem in the society. what are its effects and suggest some solutions.

It is an undeniable fact that drug abuse has become a major concern in today’s world. However, apparently, this issue has resulted in several adverse effects on both individuals and society. Nevertheless, with collective efforts by governments and citizens, viable solutions can be implemented to overcome this challenge.

Fundamentally, the implications of drug abuse are widespread. Firstly, not only does substance addiction damage physical and mental health so that individuals suffer from chronic illnesses and psychological disorders, but also it reduces productivity and employability; therefore, many people struggle to lead stable lives. For example, a BBC study found that long-term drug users are more likely to experience depression and unemployment. Secondly, unlike healthy individuals who contribute positively to society, drug-dependent people often engage in criminal activities to sustain their addiction. Hence, it is considered that drug abuse leads to serious personal and social consequences.

Nonetheless, adequate measures must be taken to mitigate this problem. Primarily, if governments invest in rehabilitation centres and awareness programmes, addiction rates can be reduced, since early intervention helps individuals recover effectively. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, countries that expanded drug rehabilitation services observed a decline in substance-related crimes. Furthermore, strict law enforcement against drug trafficking is essential because limiting the availability of illegal substances discourages drug consumption. Thus, it is regarded that strict actions by authorities, combined with responsible behaviour from individuals, can significantly reduce the severity of this issue.

To conclude, although drug abuse has resulted in serious effects such as health deterioration and rising crime rates, there are several effective measures to resolve it. Needless to say, a joint effort between governments and individuals is crucial to overcome this menace and ensure a sustainable future.

Sample Answer

More and more developing countries are expanding their tourist industries. Why is this? Is it a positive or a negative development?

It is an undeniable fact that the expansion of the tourism industry in many developing countries has emerged as a pressing concern in contemporary society. However, this trend has attracted mixed opinions worldwide. Apparently, rapid modernisation and lifestyle changes are to be blamed for this matter. Nevertheless, in my considered opinion, this development is constructive.

Fundamentally, several factors contribute to the rise of tourism expansion in developing nations. Firstly, not only do governments promote tourism so that foreign investment and international recognition increase, but also natural and cultural attractions are marketed globally through digital platforms; therefore, tourist inflow has risen significantly. For example, a BBC study found that countries investing in tourism infrastructure experienced steady economic growth. Secondly, unlike developed nations where tourism markets are already saturated, developing countries offer affordable travel options and unique cultural experiences. Hence, it is considered that economic ambitions and global exposure collectively shape the prevalence of this trend.

Nonetheless, from my perspective, this is a constructive development. Primarily, if tourism industries continue to grow, employment opportunities will increase, since hotels, transport services, and local businesses require a large workforce. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, tourism generates millions of jobs annually in emerging economies. Furthermore, tourism promotes cultural exchange and infrastructure development because governments improve roads, airports, and public facilities to meet international standards. Thus, it is regarded that the overall impact of this issue is largely positive.

To conclude, although the expansion of tourism in developing countries originates from economic growth strategies and globalisation, in my opinion, it is a constructive development. Needless to say, recognising the causes and evaluating their consequences is vital for forming a balanced judgment on this matter.

Topic: Increasing Use of Social Media

It is an undeniable fact that the excessive use of social media has become a significant concern in the modern world. However, it is believed that changing lifestyles and digital dependency are the primary contributors to this trend. Apparently, rapid modernisation and the pursuit of technological dominance are to be blamed for this issue. Nevertheless, the effects are far-reaching for both individuals and society at large.

Fundamentally, several reasons are associated with the rise in excessive social media usage. Firstly, not only have smartphones become affordable so that people can access online platforms at any time, but also high-speed internet has made digital interaction effortless; therefore, users spend prolonged hours online. For example, a BBC study found that young adults spend more than three hours daily on social networking sites. Secondly, unlike traditional communication methods, social media offers instant validation through likes and comments, which encourages addictive behaviour. Hence, it is considered that technological accessibility and psychological gratification are the major causes of excessive social media use.

Nonetheless, the implications of this problem are undeniably serious. Primarily, if individuals spend excessive time on social media, their mental health may deteriorate, since constant comparison leads to anxiety and low self-esteem. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, prolonged screen exposure is linked to increased stress levels among teenagers. Furthermore, real-life social interactions decline because virtual communication replaces face-to-face relationships. Thus, it is regarded as a long-term challenge that affects emotional well-being, productivity, and social cohesion.

To conclude, although excessive social media use stems from technological advancement and easy internet access, its impact can be seen in mental health issues and weakened social bonds. Needless to say, understanding both the causes and consequences is crucial for designing effective strategies to tackle this menace.

Sample Answer

These days many countries face excessive traffic. What are the reasons? Describe solutions ?

It is an undeniable fact that excessive traffic congestion has become a pressing concern in today’s world. However, apparently, rapid modernisation and the pursuit of technological dominance are to be blamed for this issue. Nevertheless, a joint effort by governments and individuals can help control this menace.

Fundamentally, several reasons are associated with the rise in traffic congestion. Firstly, not only has the growing population increased the number of private vehicles on roads so that traffic volume exceeds road capacity, but also inadequate public transport systems force people to rely heavily on personal cars; therefore, traffic jams have become unavoidable in urban areas. For example, a BBC study found that cities with weak public transport infrastructure experience longer commuting hours. Secondly, unlike the past, people now prefer private vehicles over shared transportation due to comfort and status concerns. Hence, it is considered that uncontrolled urbanisation and poor planning are major contributors to traffic problems.

Nonetheless, adequate measures must be taken to mitigate this problem. Primarily, if governments invest in efficient and affordable public transport systems, traffic congestion can be significantly reduced, since people will be encouraged to shift away from private vehicles. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, cities that expanded metro and bus networks witnessed a noticeable decline in road traffic. Furthermore, individuals should adopt practices such as carpooling and using eco-friendly transport because collective responsibility can ease pressure on roads. Thus, it is regarded that both authorities and individuals have a significant role in overcoming this issue.

To conclude, although excessive traffic is caused by rapid urbanisation, population growth, and increased dependence on private vehicles, several steps can be taken to reduce its impact. Needless to say, strict measures by authorities and responsible action from individuals are necessary to eradicate this practice from the world.

Question: Many people prefer online shopping instead of visiting physical stores. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Indubitably, shopping is an integral part of daily life. While some contend that purchasing products through digital platforms has become increasingly popular, I believe that even though this practice brings a mix of benefits and drawbacks, the advantages significantly outshine its disadvantages.

Body Paragraph 1 – Advantages (3 points – stronger side)

Apparently, online shopping offers myriad constructive benefits. Firstly, not only does it allow consumers to purchase products from the comfort of their home so that they can save time and energy, but also it enables access to a vast range of brands unavailable locally; therefore, customers enjoy greater convenience. For example, a BBC study found that80% of shoppers prefer e-commerce platforms due to easy accessibility. Secondly, unlike traditional stores where prices are fixed, online marketplaces provide competitive discounts and cashback offers, making shopping more economical. Hence, it is considered that online shopping significantly reduces financial burden.

Furthermore, e-commerce platforms offer advanced features such as home delivery and flexible return policies, which enhance customer satisfaction and make the shopping experience hassle-free.

Body Paragraph 2 – Disadvantage (1 point – weaker side)

Despite these constructive outcomes, online shopping does entail a notable drawback. Primarily, if customers are unable to physically inspect products before purchasing, they may receive poor-quality or incorrect items since misleading advertisements often appear online. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, over 30% of online shoppers reported dissatisfaction with product authenticity. Furthermore, personal information can be misused because cybercrime is increasing rapidly. Thus, it is regarded that privacy and quality concerns are the key limitations of online shopping.

To recapitulate, although online purchases may involve risks related to product quality and data theft, yet the convenience, affordability, and wide product availability strongly outweigh these issues. Needless to say, the advantages of online shopping massively tide over its disadvantages in today’s digital age.

Template of Give your opinion ?

 *Task -2*

6th type

*Give your opinion*

Question: There are many things that motivate a person to work, but money is the most important. Give your opinion.

Indubitably, employment serves multiple purposes, ranging from financial stability to personal fulfilment. Although many individuals believe that monetary benefits are the most significant driving force behind one’s professional commitment, I firmly contend that income, alongside passion and workplace culture, holds equal importance in motivating people to excel in their careers.

Body Paragraph 1:

Apparently, financial incentives offer a wide range of indispensable advantages. Firstly, not only does a stable salary enable individuals to meet essential needs so that they can sustain a comfortable lifestyle, but also it supports additional aspirations such as travel or higher education; therefore, money becomes a powerful motivator. For example, a BBC study found that nearly three-quarters of employees prioritise high salary packages over job roles. Secondly, unlikeunpaid or temporary occupations, well-paid jobs provide long-term security and opportunities for investment. Hence, it is considered that financial rewards encourage workers to remain dedicated and consistently improve their performance.

Body Paragraph 2:

Despite the undeniable importance of money in the workplace, other non-financial factors are equally significant in sustaining long-term motivation. Primarily, if people pursue a profession that aligns with their interests and strengths, they are more likely to remain enthusiastic and productive since passion promotes long-term engagement. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, employees who work in fields they genuinely enjoy show a 50% increase in motivation levels compared to those driven solely by income. Furthermore, a supportive and collaborative work environment enhances job satisfaction because it boosts confidence, reduces stress, and fosters a sense of belonging. Thus, it is regarded that emotional well-being, purpose, and positive relationships at work play an equally crucial role in motivating individuals.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, while financial remuneration is undeniably a strong catalyst for hard work, it is not the only factor that influences career motivation. A perfect combination of attractive salary, personal passion, and a healthy work atmosphere ultimately inspires people to thrive and perform at their best.

Some people believe online learning is better than face-to-face classroom learning. Is this a positive or negative development?

Indubitably, online education has transformed the traditional learning system. While some argue that virtual classes are more convenient and affordable, I believe this development has both constructive and destructive aspects.

Apparently, online learning provides a wide range of constructive benefits. Firstly, not only does it allow students to study from anywhere so that they can save time and travel expenses, but also digital lessons offer flexible schedules; therefore, learners can balance education with personal responsibilities. For example, BBC reported that over 70% of distance learners manage their studies along with part-time jobs successfully. Secondly, unlike conventional classrooms, online platforms provide access to global resources such as international webinars and recorded lectures. Hence, it is considered that online learning promotes convenience and global exposure.

Despite these advantages, virtual education can also have several downsides. Primarily, if students attend only online classes, they may lack face-to-face interaction and social skills since physical engagement is limited. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, students relying solely on online education often struggle with confidence during group discussions and interviews. Furthermore, spending prolonged hours on screens can cause health problems because it strains the eyes and triggers stress. Thus, it is regarded that online learning may negatively affect emotional well-being and physical health.

To conclude, although online learning offers flexibility and global access, it may hinder social development and create health concerns. Therefore, this trend has both positive and negative impacts depending on how it is implemented.

People's shopping habits depend more on the age group they belong to than other factors. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

*Indubitably*, shopping is an essential part of daily life and reflects an individual’s needs, desires, and lifestyle. *While some argue* that people’s shopping habits are influenced more by their age group than by other variables such as income, education, or lifestyle,** I firmly believe** that although age does play a role in shaping consumer behaviour, it is not the predominant factor. Other elements, particularly lifestyle, technological exposure, and financial capacity, often exert a far greater influence.

Apparently, age is considered a significant factor influencing shopping behaviour. **Firstly, not only* *may teenagers gravitate towards trendy clothes and tech gadgets *so that* they can keep up with the latest fashion and social trends, *but* older individuals might *also* prioritise comfort or health-related products*; *therefore**, age can influence shopping habits to some extent. *For example, according to BBC research* For example, a teenager is more likely to spend money on the latest smartphone or branded sneakers, whereas an elderly person may prefer to invest in orthopedic shoes or wellness supplements. *secondly, unlike in the past…..hence it is considered **…_*

*Despite* age, other factors such as cultural values, gender, advertising, and financial status hold paramount significance in influencing shopping habits. Chiefly, *if* consumers have sufficient financial resources and are exposed to targeted advertising, their shopping habits are likely to be influenced more by these factors than by their age, *since* income and marketing strategies often shape purchasing decisions significantly. *For instance*, young professionals with high disposable incomes may prioritize luxury brands regardless of their age, while others may focus on practicality due to budget constraints. *Furthermore*, cultural norms can dictate preferences for certain products or brands across different demographics. *Thus, it is regarded as* an oversimplification to attribute shopping behaviour primarily to age, as a complex interplay of various factors drives consumer choices.

To conclude, *although* age can influence shopping habits to some extent, it is clear that other factors such as financial status, cultural values, and advertising play a more significant role in shaping consumer behaviour.

*In today’s digital age*, computers have become an integral part of children’s lives. *While* some argue that computers play a constructive role in a child's overall development, *others believe* they can be harmful.

*On one hand, many believe that* computers contribute positively to a child’s holistic growth. *Firstly, not only do* they enhance cognitive abilities *so that* children can think more critically, *but they* also improve problem-solving skills; *therefore*, children are better equipped to handle day-to-day challenges efficiently. *For example, a BBC study found that* 80% of children demonstrated better decision-making abilities after regularly engaging with strategic video games. *Secondly, unlike* traditional games, computer-based activities expose children to technology, which is crucial in the modern world. *Hence, it is considered* an effective way to enhance their social awareness and communication skills, especially through online collaborative platforms.

Indubitably, people work for various reasons, primarily to sustain their livelihood. While some argue that many factors can motivate a person to work, with money being the most prominent, I believe that income, along with other elements such as passion and work environment, plays an equally important role.

Apparently, money offers a wide range of tangible benefits. Firstly, it enables individuals to meet their basic needs such as food, shelter, and clothing. Secondly, financial stability provides a sense of security and allows people to support their families and plan for the future. For many, a well-paying job is seen as a sign of success and personal achievement.

Despite the undeniable importance of money, other factors such as a positive work culture, personal passion, and long-term goals also play a vital role in motivating individuals. For instance, many people choose professions such as teaching or social work not for high salaries, but because they are passionate about making a difference. Similarly, a healthy and supportive work environment can significantly boost morale and productivity.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, while money is undoubtedly a strong motivator, it is not the sole reason why people work. A combination of financial rewards, personal satisfaction, and a fulfilling work environment is what truly motivates individuals to give their best

Some people think that doing regular physical exercise is the most important way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while others believe that eating a healthy and balanced diet is more essential. Discuss both views and give your own opinion. | IELTS WRITING TASK-2 | ESSAY

Some people think that doing regular physical exercise is the most important way to maintain a healthy lifestyle, while others believe that eating a healthy and balanced diet is more essential.

Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

In today’s digital age, health issues have increased by leaps and bounds. While some believe that physical exercise is the key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle, others argue that a nutritious and balanced diet plays a more crucial role.

On the one hand, many people argue that regular exercise keeps a person fit. Firstly, not only do gym sessions help people burn extra calories so that they can maintain a healthy weight, but also they improve cardiovascular health and increase muscle strength; therefore, individuals who regularly visit the gym enjoy a healthier and longer life. For example, a BBC study found that people who exercised at least four times a week reduced their risk of heart disease by 60%. Secondly, unlike those who live a sedentary lifestyle, gym-goers build stronger bones and improve their flexibility and mobility, which keeps them active even in old age. Hence, it is considered that going to the gym plays a pivotal role in ensuring physical well-being.

On the other hand, critics believe that diet is more important than exercise. Primarily, if people consume fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, they can maintain strong immunity and better digestion, since these foods provide essential nutrients and fiber. For instance, according to Forbes magazine, individuals who follow a balanced diet are 60% less likely to suffer from lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Furthermore, healthy meals improve concentration and energy levels because natural foods release energy slowly and keep the body active throughout the day. Thus, it is regarded that eating nutritious food is more important than relying on processed or junk food for long-term health.

In my profound opinion, although exercising certainly benefits health, eating quality food and maintaining a balanced diet contributes more effectively to increasing life expectancy. Needless to say, combining healthy eating with regular exercise is the best approach to achieving overall well-being.

You are a high school teacher. A student of yours has just graduated with excellent marks from high school. This person wants to find work. | CELPIP TASK-1 EMAIL

You are a high school teacher. A student of yours has just graduated with excellent marks from high school. This person wants to find work.

Write an email to this student in about 150-200 words. Your email should do the following things:

• Explain how you feel about her high school grades.

• Explain why a college education is good.

• Explain why going to work instead of college is unwise.

Dear Aniket,

Congratulations on your outstanding achievement! Scoring 96% in high school is truly commendable, and I am genuinely proud of your hard work and dedication. However, I recently learned that you are considering working instead of pursuing higher studies. While I understand that circumstances sometimes lead us to difficult decisions, I strongly encourage you to reconsider.

With your brilliance and academic excellence, college can open doors to greater opportunities, shaping your future in ways that a job at this stage might not. Even though alternative education options exist, the experience and exposure gained through college are invaluable.

Having spent 20 years in teaching, I have seen firsthand how higher education broadens horizons and paves the way for success. While financial challenges can be daunting, there are scholarships and support systems that can help. If you need guidance, I’d be more than happy to assist you in exploring your options.

You have a bright future ahead, and I truly believe in your potential. Please feel free to reach out anytime. Wishing you all the best!

Best regards,
Rajat

You signed up for a yearly subscription to a digital magazine based on a trial issue that was impressive, but the subsequent issues have been lackluster and not up to the mark.

Write an email to the magazine’s subscription department in about 150-200 words. Your email should include the following things:

  • Indicate when you subscribed and what influenced your decision
  • Describe how the later issues failed to meet your expectations
  • Request a partial refund or an extension of your subscription with assurance of improved quality

Dear Subscription Department,

I am writing to express my disappointment with the digital magazine issues I have received since initiating my annual subscription on 17th June. My decision to subscribe was largely based on the quality of the trial issue, which I found engaging, informative, and well-edited. However, the subsequent issues have not maintained this standard.

The recent editions seem to lack the depth, creativity, and polish that were evident in the trial issue, significantly diminishing my reading experience and leaving me questioning the value of my subscription.

Given this discrepancy, I would appreciate a resolution to address the gap between expectation and delivery. I kindly request either a partial refund for the remainder of my subscription or an extension of my subscription period, along with assurances of improved content quality moving forward.

I look forward to your prompt response and a satisfactory resolution, reaffirming your commitment to delivering high-quality content to your subscribers.

Sincerely,

Nisha
