Women are paid less as compared to Men. What are your views on gender-specific job placements? A local NGO for gender equality has sent out an opinion survey to know about the views of the general public.
Public Opinion Survey:
Option A : women are capable of doing all jobs.
Option B : women are good in some but not fit for all of types.
I vehemently reckon there is no job a woman cannot do. In the modern era, females have been pushing the societal boundaries and ‘breaking the glass ceiling’ by entering jobs that were traditionally only done by males.
Firstly, unlike men, women are not onlyversatile ,but also manages any work efficiently. To substantiate, women have carved a niche as airline pilots, NASA Scientists, computer engineers or as CEO. Secondly, there is no scientific proof that females cannot do work connected with high mental activities, such as scientific research or complex math equations. Katherine Johnson was able to make manual calculations without using any computers. Even more, she worked as a computer. Hence, women has substantial contribution in science and space exploration.
Thirdly, dockworkers in this day and age use an electric pallet jack and forklift to lift heavy items thus women cannot be discriminated in terms of physical strength. In fact, there are certain jobs in which women surpass the men. To vindicate, organization, taking care of children, cooking and gardening. Although males can provide support and protection to the family , they cannot stand par with when compared to their counterparts.
Considering these reasons, I am firmly against gender-specific job placements because it entails disparities among the employees of the company. Prudence will prevail, if they are encouraged and supported on an unprecedented scale.
