In many countries around the world, shopping has turned to a form of entertainment rather than a way of getting what people need. Discuss reasons for this trend? Is this a positive or negative development?

Shopping trends have been continuously changing , starting from barter system to modern day online buying. It has been observed in many countries that people are buying things not to accomplish their needs rather they consider it as a form of entertainment and free time activity. There are plethora of reasons associated with this trend. However it is a negative trend which will attribute to more Problems in the society.

Apparently, the meaning of shopping has entirely changed by new generation and there are umpteen reasons behind ever growing popularity of shopping. First and foremost is people are more wealthy in present era and they are paid high amounts which allow them to spend extravagantly without any purpose of using the thing later in future. For instance, A century ago, the average income in India is 50 rupees which is now 50000. Henceforth, the demands have also increased.
Second factor is linked with first one, owing to huge bank balance and widespread of throwing culture across the world has caused people to buy unnecessary items while they were on holidays or on weekends.Additionally , some people espouse the fact that shopping lift their mood and spirits so they buy things when they have nothing to do or have low mind level. It has been scientifically proved that buying new things renders pleasure to an individual.

Nevertheless, I find this as a negative development because of multiple reasons. Chiefly, it will further promote throwing culture which in long term contributes to depletion of raw materials and sources. To substantiate my view, paper products are the most suitable example as they are highly consumed  consequently more trees are cut in order to produce paper. Moreover, it has major impact on the psychology of millennial because they believe they can replace anything they want , the similar feeling they  develop for society and relationships causing them to be more materialistic so this phenomena can disrupt families and decline the humanitarian approach.

Suffice to say , shopping is an indispensable activity of our life but we must limit are buying a to the things that we actually need. As it is a negative development, henceforth people who seek it as a entertainment activity may cause negative effects in future
