In today’s society more and more work is done by machines. Do you think the positive effects of these developments outweigh the negative effects on individuals and society?
Indubitably, after industrialization science and technology has grown by leaps and bounds. It is often argued that a great deal of work is performed by machines in every walk of human life. However, even though this trend brings a mixed bag of boon and bane, pros outshines cons.
On the constructive part, society is blessed with numerous benefits which are worth mentioning. To begin with, it has not only reduced manual intervention in various industries, but also mitigated the detrimental ramifications on the health of human resources. To facilitate this, numerous workplaces like coal and mining industries which require heavy weightlifting and 24*7 work, machines can be an excellent source. Secondly, unlike human beings, automated systems are much faster, convenient and efficient and the quality of work they deliver is unquestionable. Thirdly, same machine can perform multiple tasks. For instance, there are various household appliances that can be used for multitasking. Therefore, many organizations have revolutionized their workforce by using automated systems to meet the growing needs of business today.
On the destructive part, there appears to be potential shortcoming from this trend. Chiefly, Will this approach result in exponential rise in unemployment? Certainly yes, if the workers are replaced with the machines, it will easily make hundreds of employees redundant. Moreover, people failing to support their families will start committing crimes like looting and stealing to fulfill their basic needs. Hence, this trend might cause irreparable damage to individuals as well as society at an unprecedented scale.
Suffice to say, although the use of machinery causes decline in the employment ratio of the country and a balance needs to be maintained between manual work and mechanization,
On point💯
