Some people think that school should reward students who show the best academic results, while others believe that it is more important to reward students who show improvements. Discuss both the views and give your opinion.
Rewards are a thing given in recognition of service, effort, or achievement. However, there are predominantly two contrasting views where a section of society vehemently deems that learners with excellent academics should be rewarded with prizes while others emhasize that pupils who show betterment in their studies should be given medals.
Apparently, various factors make a section of people advocate that giving awards to the children with outstanding performances has substantial contribution in the gradual evolvement of children and have many reasons to substantiate it. First and foremost, not only would this create a highly competitive environment, but also students will study and remain focussed on achieving better results. To Vindicate, accoding to a BBC reaserach , it is revealed that 80% of students feel motivated and develop a healthy competing spirit amongst each other to score well in their exams. Secondly, unlike the bygone days when the education was the only thing teachers used to focus, these days the teachers who predict the ability of the toppers, they nurture them to reach upto national level heights in the field of academics. Therefore, it is imperative to gift trophies, medals and certificates to the students as it would be a better motivation for a wider group.
Nevertheless, some believe that mediocre students should also be rewarded for the enhancement in their results for myriad reasons. Chiefly, if an individual scores better marks, one might need a little encouragement to work more hard and achieve better results. To corroborate, according to the BBC research , it is revealed that by giving encourgement and small tokens of prizes to the mid-level students 60% of the academic outcomes were enhanced. Furthermore, this could give an equal opportunity to the students to receive prizes rather than feeling disaapointed, children feel reconized and encouraged while competnig with the toppers. Consequently, this form of recognition will follow a holistic principle of learning which is access to the world of knowledge and not just gain high scores.
In my profound opinion, although toppers have their own way of achieving awards by scoring well and staying on the top yet giving encouragement to the students who work hard and try to keep up with the speed of their peers and make twice the effort should be recognized and rewarded.
Wow..
