These days, mobile phones and the internet are very important to the ways in which people relate to one another socially. Do the advantages outweigh its disadvantages?

Indubitably, digitalization has made the world a social village and in the contemporary era, cell phones and web hold paramount significance in the way people communicate. However, even though this practice brings about a mixed bag of boon and bane, pros outshines cones.

On the constructive part, society is blessed with numerous benefits which are worth mentioning. To begin with, it not only provides considerable contribution towards augmenting cross-culturalism, but also fosters cognitive skills and effective communication skills by socializing with people from different continents through social networking websites. For instance, using Facebook and Instagram one can easily communicate with people across the globe. Furthermore, unlike ancient times when traditional methods were used to access information, in modern era the access to the latest news is just a click away. Besides, it comforts the society in terms of tracking and remain updated on their loved ones who are miles away. Thus, smartphones and cyber is considered as a contributing factor when it comes to socialization.

On the destructive part, there appears to be potential shortcoming from this trend. Chiefly, does it stimulate long-lasting relationships? Certainly no, people connecting virtually are emotionally less attached than the one’s interacting physically. To vindicate, the research by RECL Journal concluded that long-distance relationships lack in trust and emotions. Therefore, telecommunications can never replace the benefits of interpersonal communication.

Suffice to say, although phones and internet comes up with minor flaws, the comfort and superior lifestyle these resources provide can never be replaced. Needless to state merits massively tide over demerits.
