More and more people want to buy famous brands with clothes, car and other items. What are the reasons? Do you think it is a positive or negative development? | IELTS | IELTS writing task-2

More and more people want to buy famous brands with clothes, car and other items. What are the reasons? Do you think it is a positive or negative development?

Indubitably, in the modern era, consumerism is growing rampantly across the globe. It is believed that most of the individuals prefer renowned brands for their needs such as outfits or cars. Apparently, various factors breed its popularity. However, it is a destructive trend.
Fundamentally, the predominant factors that evidently trigger it can be observed. To begin with, luxurious lifestyle not only enhance their living standards, but also stimulate their admirable identity and intact reputation in society. For instance, people wearing branded clothes and having luxury cars have idealistic popularity among their community. Secondly, unlike ordinary people, there is a profound impact of influencers on citizens in recent years. Influencers who can be celebrities, sport players, politicians and so on become role model for numerous younglings, what they use become reference for society. Thus, people buy international products to foster their sedentary lifestyle.

Nevertheless, I find this tendency has its own inherited downsides for multifarious reasons. Chiefly, if it becomes habit of individual to be surrounded with renowned goods, they will end up in debts at an unprecedented scale. For instance, young ones follow influencers blindly to show of luxury appearance, leading their parents under constant debt. Besides, does these international corporations’ overcharge because of the logo on them? Certainly yes, these organizations spend most of the money on marketing strategies and advertisements, giving exponential rise to the prices as compared to local companies selling similar products at lower rates. Therefore, people will end up being idiotic if trusting brands blindly.

Suffice to say, although renowned products aid living standards and luxurious lifestyle, in a long run this trend is likely to create detrimental ramifications on individual in particular and society in general.
