Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or it is the responsibility of the nation government of poorer nation to look after their citizens themselves? | IELTS | IELTS writing task-2

Should wealthy nations be required to share their wealth among poorer nations by providing such things as food and education? Or it is the responsibility of the nation government of poorer nation to look after their citizens themselves?

It is an undeniable fact that there is a wide disparity in the resources available to the people living in different countries. It is often argued whether strong economies should aid the poor countries in their primary needs or it is the onus of the government to look after their individuals. However, in my contention, this enormous gap cannot be bridged without co-operation from both sides of the divide.

Apparently, a helping hand from developed countries holds a wide range of constructive benefits. To begin with, it will not only set up a trend of benevolence among the heavily interconnected world, but also will ensure that a nation cannot prosper in an isolated manner. For example, United Nations’ frequent assistance with food and shelter for the Uganda people is a life saver and a kindness move. Secondly, unlike developing countries, the developed nations can support them in building hospitals, educational institutes and implementing effective agricultural practices. Therefore, this trend could foster the economy of the developing nations.

Nevertheless, the government of developing nations should have an equal obligation for its country. Chiefly, if help is always at hand, some successive governments may not put in efforts to meet basic needs which might lead to loss of trust among citizens. Besides, what about the various taxes that native people pay to the government? Certainly, the authorities should start utilizing the resources in an efficient way to retain their skillful people and look for the policies to promote innovation in agriculture to be able to be self-sufficient eventually. Thus, the nation should strive to become independent by the day.

To recapitulate, although the government should fulfill the basic needs of its citizens to preserve their faith, it is impossible to cross the gigantic valley between rich and poor without foreign help.
