Cleanliness plays a paramount significant role in living a healthy life. However, there are predominantly two contrasting views where a section of society vehemently deems that it is the duty of the inhabitants to keep the lanes clean and tidy, while others emphasize that successive government should take the potential onus.
Apparently, various factors make a section of people advocate that locals should look after the cleanliness of their streets and have many reasons to substantiate it. First and foremost, not only it is a prime onus of every citizen to keep the environment tidy, but also they are the major end- users of the roads. To vindicate, a research by BBC revealed that in Singapore, the ratio of diseases is 40% less in comparison to other nations as majority of residents in Singapore take part in cleaning their homes and surroundings themselves. Secondly, unlike the bygone days, the individuals are more aware of detrimental ramifications of the messy roads and know keeping the lanes clean is a key factor influencing for their sustainable health as it will combat the numerous chronic diseases which are the result of filthy areas . Seemingly, the human beings are accountable for keeping these roundings clean and tidy .
Nevertheless, some believe that the authorities are accountable for maintaining clean and neat streets for myriad reasons. Chiefly, does in the modern era populace have enough time to look after the cleanliness and neatness of lanes ? Certainly no, since due to the stiff competition millennial are busy working a round the clock leaving no room to make the surroundings spick and span as they are busy achieving pinnacles in the fast- paced era. To corroborate, as per Forbes magazine, 79% of people are working 24/ 7 to get promotions and success. Additionally, if the government make the stringent laws against the individuals who do not follow the rules of dumping the waste in separate bins, it will help the menace from deteriorating further . Thus, these are the reasons why the government is fundamental in maintaining the roads clean and neat.
To recapitulate, citizens and governments have their own substantial contribution in making the environment tidy. Needless to state, equilibrium should be maintained by both dwellers and successive government for making healthy environment.
