India is a developing country. It is divided into many states and each state is divided into cities. Many cities are cosmopolitan as well as metropolitan. Here I would like to speak about the city where I would like to live in future i.e. New Delhi. It is capital of my country and has historical importance also. It is one of the cosmopolitan cities which is located in the Northern part of my country.
New Delhi is the oldest, important and well known city. It is mirror of history. The city was once centre of kings and emperors and moreover, British people also ruled our country from this city. It is the hub of all type of educational and professional institutes and universities. It is the major outlet for import and export business. Majority of the national, international, corporate and domestic companies have their head offices here so it provides a wide range of job opportunities. Parliament House is also in Delhi. All the central ministers are provided with residence and offices here only. Today this city is a political centre. It has a number of famous historical monuments and buildings like : Red Fort, India Gate, Jama- Masjid, Janter-Manter & Amar jawan jyoti ( the light symbolising the sacrifice of soldiers ) and the most famous Taj Mahal in Agra near Delhi.
Many National and international events like Independence Day and Republic Day celebrations, Olympics games, cricket matches are organised in this city. The city has international and domestic airport which connects people at national as well as international level. The famous Doordarshan satellite centre is also in Delhi.
Overall, I think this city has its recognition globally so I would like to live here in future.

1. Why do more and more people live in the city?
I think more and more people live in the city because of the comforts offered by city life. There are good education, health, and entertainment facilities available in cities. More city jobs offer a better pay.
2. What are some factors that attract people to settle down in certain places?
I think the main factors are presence of family members and friends, financial reasons like availability of well paid jobs, facilities like presence of malls, cinema theatres, good schools for children and so on. Nowadays people also consider factors like level of pollution and traffic.
3. What are the differences between the young and old when choosing where to live?
I think the young mostly care about the availability of jobs and entertainment facilities. They prefer places where they can get well paid jobs and where there are bars, restaurants, and shopping malls so that they can enjoy life. On the other hand, old people care about presence of family members so that they don’t feel lonely. Also, for the old, it is about good health care facilities so that they can get timely help in case of emergencies and health issues.
