In this contemporary era, sports have became an integral part of the young generation. However, there are predominantly two contrasting views where a section of society vehemently deems that competitive sports should be included in school curriculum while others emphasize that it may have detrimental affect on children.
Apparently, various factors makes a section of people advocate that competitive sports have substantial contribution in life of children for numerous reasons. Firstly, competition is a natural instinct in humans and it is likely to strengthen the children's personality it develops the feeling of winning. Therefore, competitive pushes the person even after have some drawback. Secondly, children should face competition at their school life so, when they step in life they are able to compete with the dual world more effortlessly. Learning this skill from competitive sports have paramount significance as it will also make youngsters fitter and more athletic. Thirdly, competitive sports provide challenges and help children with such challenges. Finally, these games teach discipline and help build character and confidence.
On the other hand, some believe that competitive sports have detrimental effect for myriad reasons. Chiefly, if these sports are played with the feeling of win at any cost attitude then it can have dismal consequences as children adopt unethical mean to win and this definitely not what children should learn at school . Furthermore, competitive sports toxic effects on the personal relation of children with each other as each child may regard others as to his own and it leads children to early winners and laugh at losers. Additionally, children can sustain effectively while playing competitive games.In addition, sometimes kids can became obsessed winning ranks than enjoying the sports. Therefore, children can loose self esteem who have lack of talent and this can have catastrophic effect.
Suffice to say, having competitive sports as part of school curriculum is a mixed bag of boon and bane. However, in my opinion adding competitive sports in school curriculum is more beneficial for the children.
