Invitation letter | task-1 | General IELTS

Write a letter to your friend who lives in another country and in your letter:
a. Invite him/her to a public event in your country.
b. Describe the public event
c. Explain about other plans you have for your friend when he/she will visit.

Dear Riya,

How have you been since we last met? I thought I’d drop you a line and see if you fancy coming over for Deepawali function which is on the 15th of November.

Well, Deepawali is a famous event celebrated across India with lots of gusto. Its literal meaning is rows of lights. This day is celebrated to commemorate the return of Lord Rama to the Ayodhya after fourteen years of exile. This day is highly significant in Sikh history as well because their spiritual leader was freed from prison along with Hindu kings by the Mughal emperor. People enjoy this fest with their dear ones by lighting candles and bursting crackers.

As soon as you will arrive here at my place Chandigarh, we will move to Amritsar to have the best experience of Diwali because the way it is celebrated here you won’t find in any part of India.

Please book your air tickets right away and reach India two days prior to the occasion. I just can’t wait to see you.

Yours lovingly,
Neeraj
