Nowadays some workplaces tend to
employ equal number of men and women workers. Do you think it is positive or
negative development?
Nowadays, certain
professional sectors have changed the male to female ratio in their workforce
by hiring equal numbers of workers from each gender. This is probably done to
achieve better position in today's competitive world. However , both merits and
demerits are associated with it.
On the constructive
part , employing same number of men and women fosters the growth of any sector
as every gender possess unique skills which is a key requirement of that
industry. For instance, hospitality and management requires both genders to
provide services to their customers. Secondly, the majority of working sectors
are dominated by males and their counterparts do not get opportunities despite
fulfilling all the requirements, so this practice will definitely encourage the
females to take on the roles which were once considered not made for them. Hence,
it will empower the women and facilitate them to run their families on
their own. Moreover, it will positively affect the younger generations to
enroll in various academic programs which were considered as male
oriented occupation due to lack of employment for females such as defense
services and transportation sector.
On the other hand,
some companies believe it as a negative development as they are forced to hire
employees on gender basis and they often have to overlook the more skillful
personals just to fit in the policy. This may act as a deterrent for the growth
and stability of company. In addition to this another disadvantage of hiring
equal number of females is that the owners financial burdens increase in the times
of maternity leaves and industries often suffers work back log when
their positions got vacant on temporary basis.
In conclusion, albeit
hiring equal number of women in the workforce have some demerits but it's pros
substantially supersedes the cons. Therefore it is a positive development.
